We are now looking for a Conference & Banqueting Manager (C&B Manager) to take part in our journey.

Leading our Conference and Banquet team, the C&B Manager is a key role to our operations - following our conference guests from start to finish. The role requires collaboration with all the other departments, and is in many ways the backbone to an event driven hotel. As such, the role grants influence over strategic and operational choices for the hotel in general. The C&B Manager reports to the hotels Operations Manager and is a member of the hotel’s department manager group. 

 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Organizing staff in the respective departments to create an unforgettable experience for the hotel’s guests.
  • Striving continuously to improve profitability and to achieve the defined forecasts/goals for the departments.
  • Staff responsibility for conference hosts and crew, head waiters/supervisors and banquet waiters.

The position also involves the following tasks:

  • To be involved in operations, and must be capable and willing to perform all duties performed by the department’s staff.  
  • To be responsible for the department’s performance regarding income, expenses, employee engagement and guest satisfaction. 
  • To perform as Duty Manager according to the local duty schedule and procedures. 
  • Responsibility for keeping the departments up to date and informed about the hotel’s and department’s procedures, policies and routines. Eg fire safety procedures, uniform policy and operational routines.
  • Being well acquainted with the law on the Responsible Service of Alcohol and ensuring the law is obeyed at all times.
  • Staff responsibility, which involves scheduling, teaching, training, employee appraisal discussions and payroll reporting. 
  • Recruiting within the departments,
  • To order the consumables needed in order to operate the department, and maintain a good relationship with the suppliers.
  • To monitor customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis. Also to act quickly as required if there is any need for it. 
  • To obtain correct, relevant information about events in adequate time before they take place.
  • To collaborate with other departments and department managers. 
  • Coordinate and assist the hotels sales departments.
  • To ensure that relevant prices are correct and menus are updated.
  • Making sure that the hotel’s POS system is set up with the correct structure, content and prices.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Operations Manager or General Manager. 


Who we are looking for: 
The candidate must be fluent in either or both a Scandinavian language and/or English.

  • You like working with deadlines. 

Preferred previous experience within at least one of the following fields:

  • Experience working with food and beverage
  • Experience working with conferences, events, audio/visual or similar 
  • Experience with management and staff responsibilities
  • Acquainted with the Norwegian law on the Responsible Service of Alcohol
