For the first time in 130 years, Dalen Hotel will open its season already in February, and we are looking for an ambitious Sous Chef to join our team. This is your chance to be part of a historic journey at one of Norway’s most iconic hotels.

About Dalen Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Telemark, Dalen Hotel is a fairytale-like adventure hotel from 1894, built in the distinctive Norwegian dragon style. With 49 rooms, a majestic hall, historic lounges, and the fine dining Restaurant Bandak, the hotel is renowned for offering a unique and unforgettable experience.

Since opening, Restaurant Bandak has upheld its tradition of classic French cuisine, complemented by impeccable service with white gloves and refined etiquette. We offer à la carte breakfast and lunch, alongside 3- and 5-course set menus for dinner, providing our guests with a dining experience reminiscent of another era.

About the Role
As Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in our kitchen team, working closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the smooth daily operation of the restaurant. Your responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with menu planning and development.
  • Overseeing inventory and placing orders.
  • Managing service and maintaining the highest standards of food quality.
  • Being a role model for the kitchen team, inspiring and guiding chefs, kitchen assistants, and apprentices.

You will join a talented kitchen team of 6-10 members during high season, contributing to a collaborative and professional work environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for classic French cuisine and fine dining.
  • Proven experience in a similar role or fine dining environment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • A team player with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
